Who writes the guides

Meet our editors

Three people write and edit everything on Home Infrared Saunas. We don't have these saunas in our own living rooms, and we don't pretend to. The work is reading spec sheets, manuals, warranty terms and owner reviews, lining models up side by side, and updating the rankings when prices or models change. Every guide names the person who wrote it and the person who edited it.

Claire Bergstrom

Senior editor

Claire is the senior editor of Home Infrared Saunas. She decides which saunas make each ranking, checks every "two-person" label against the bench width in the spec sheet, and reads owner reviews for the complaints that keep coming back. Her pet subject is fit: a sauna that suits your room and your evenings beats the biggest cabin on sale.

  • Wood cabin or portable fabric sauna
  • Seat count vs real bench width
  • Session temperatures and timers as the manuals print them
  • Keeping the rankings current

Raymond Ortega

Power & assembly writer

Raymond writes our guides on power, assembly and placement. He reads the electrical and assembly sections of each manual page by page, compares wattage and circuit requirements across cabins, and goes through owner reviews for the setup problems that show up on day one. If a sauna needs a dedicated 240V circuit, he wants you to know before the pallet arrives.

  • 110V plug-in vs 240V hardwired cabins
  • Wattage, amperage and dedicated circuits on the spec sheet
  • Assembly steps, panels and connectors
  • Placement, clearances and floor space

Holly Brennan

Heaters & materials editor

Holly writes and edits our guides on heaters, EMF claims, cleaning and accessories. She's the one who reads the warranty small print and the heater spec table line by line, and she treats "low EMF" as a claim to check rather than a feature. If a listing's numbers don't match its own manual, she notes it, and the ranking says so.

  • Far infrared, near infrared and full-spectrum heaters
  • Low-EMF claims and what the paperwork backs up
  • Wood types, finishes and care instructions
  • Warranty terms on heaters and cabins
  • Accessories worth the money
